I can't wrap my head around this from following the security course.  I have this information in my employee table: EmpID, Name, JobCode, FacilityNo and Supervisor.  The ReportsTo field is concatonated from the JobCode and Facility so that if employee changes positions and/or facility, their Supervisor automatically changes as well.  What I am trying to figure out is how to set the security so an employee record can only be opened by the employee, the supervisor, or supervisor's supervisors.  If that sounds like Japenese to you...imagine how it sounds to a "non IT" person trying to develop the dbase.

From what I can see, we don't need the ReportsTo field here. You just need the EmpID and the Supervisor (which I'm assuming is just another EmpID, right?)

If that's the case, all you need is THREE (3) DLOOKUP statements. First, look up the EmpID and see if it's the CurrentID (current user). If not, then DLOOKUP the current user's supervisor. Now you know his EmpID. If it's not, then look up that supervisor's supervisor.
