Search error

Hi,
On one of my forms I have a search button, using:
Dim s As String
s = InputBox("please enter name", "ItemName", ItemName)
Me.Filter = "ItemName Like ""*" & s & "*"""
Me.FilterOn = True
it works fine even when blank, however when I search for something that isnt in the db I get a "runtime error 94 misuse of null", I've watched a ton Richards very excellent of youtube videos but not seen that answer yet,
can you advise please ? thanks

HI Alex, thanks, I did see that video but I couldnt get NZ to stop the error, but I did get it using this .. s = InputBox("please enter name", "ItemName", ItemName) If Not IsNull(s) Then Exit Sub that seems to work, not sure if its the best way but it does work. thanks

You may have to DLookup the value to make sure it's in there first before applying your filter. Seems like you shouldn't have to, but Access can be as fickle as a prom date sometimes.
