Part 6 Coming Soon
Richard Rost

Hey guys. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been working on different stuff for the ABCD. I'll be releasing Part 6 in the next week or two.

A lot of projects that I have been working on as stand-alone databases are ALSO going to be integrated into the ABCD. For example, right now I'm putting the finishing touches on my Task Manager which is going to be released as a standalone template AND as an add-on for the ABCD.

Details in the comments...

There's LOTS of cool stuff in there, and it's the database I've been using to manage my own task lists for the past year or so. It's just one of the things that I'm planning on integrating in the ABCD. So hang in there. A lot more is coming. Part 6 is going to include a tool to split the database, auto-relink the tables, and even allow you to switch to a different data set (multiple sets of back-end tables, in case you run multiple companies). Full contact management is also going to be added - I can't really call it the Access Business CONTACT Database without that, right? LOL. Lots more too.

And yes... that's Rick's Tree View - NOT the TreeView Control. You know I hate external controls. I built that sucker myself using a listbox. Super cool! Plus the "breadcrumb trail" on the top of the task window that says:

Root > 599CD > Courses > Access > ABCD

is completely functional too. You can click on it to jump to that branch of the tree. I put a lot of time in to this one.

Just built ANOTHER technology that's going to be going RIGHT into the ABCD... the ability for the database to realize that its backend tables have moved. When you start the DB, it will say "hey! Can't find the ACCDB file for this table. Where'd you put it?" Let you browse for the file, and auto-relink it. This is going to be the topic of today's TechHelp videos AND a Developer lesson. See... I've been doing LOTS of stuff for the ABCD. Just haven't put it all together into the ABCD yet. Coming soon...

The Letter Writer I built in a TH video a little while ago... that's going in too. Part of the "Contact" management part.

Most of the tutorials I have found online are not complex enough for my needs. Your videos are challenging and really helpful. I am building a database for a cemetery and your ABCD/Tech Help videos have been amazing! I know you have lots more stuff planned for the ABCDatabase. I hope you will have modules on invoicing and bank accounts/check registers somewhere down the road. Live long and prosper!

Doing my best, but as a RULE, I never give time estimates. I'd rather keep you waiting than give you a date and have you disappointed. Sorry.

Yeah, I'll be releasing that soon as a stand-alone database. I've been using it myself for the past few months and ironing out bugs. Then a few months after that I'll be integrating it into ABCD.

Good things come to those who wait. I will never rush releasing something until I'm happy with it.
