Quicken Import From Access

Hi Richard,
Is there a way to enter payments in Access and transfer that to Quicken. I don't want my employees to access my Quicken but need them to enter payments. I get a lot of checks from insurance companies for under $20 and it is time consuming to enter the data myself. Any suggestions?

I haven't used Quicken in YEARS... probably since the 90s. So I can't tell you for sure. It all depends on whether or not Quicken allows you to import transactions. And... I just did a quick Google search and according to Quicken's web site, you can't. They say: "Please be aware that Quicken cannot import Excel (.xls), CSV, QuickBooks, PDF, or OFX files."

That reason ALONE would be enough for me to STOP using Quicken. Why would you want to use a program that doesn't allow you to import data from another app?

So, I'm sorry, but I don't see a solution for you. Blame Quicken.

Now... you COULD try to create your own QIF file from Access... it's just a text file. Those are files that you can download from your bank (some banks). It's just text formatted a specific way. Good luck!

They charge $35.99 per YEAR now for the Starter version of Quicken? Ouch!

That all depends on what you need. If you're not in a hurry, I'm going to be coming out with my own accounting module for the ABCD database soon. Aside from that, it all depends on what your needs are.
