I have build a master database with all of my tables and 3 "Front Ends" for the users.  The users databases link to the tables of the master.  Is there a way to be able to work on the master while the users are using their from ends? We are all set to shared vs. exclusive but while I am working on the master database, the other users are unable to access records.

Not really. If you open the Master database and are editing a TABLE, then no other users will be able to save records to that table while it's open. That's one of those things you have to take the database OFFLINE for. You could work on your copy of the FRONT END database (forms, queries, reports, etc.) while they're using their own copies, but the BACK END is locked while you're editing it.
