I'm using Access 2003.  I only have three fields: product name, date, and number of items.  In either a form or a report, I need to create a box where I give the sum of 'number of items', sorted by product and date.  For example, Julie made 3 entries on Monday, 5 entries on Tuesday and Jeff made 6 entries on Monday.  So I want to create a box of how many total entries Julie made, or zero if she made no entries on that day. I tried
=IIf([Person]="Julie", And [Day]="Monday",Sum([Quantity]),0)  but it doesn't work.  Please help.

How about an aggregate query where you can group by user and date, and then show totals?

Or you could use a crosstab query… or you could use sorting and grouping levels in a report. There are several ways to do this. Here are a few tutorials to get you started:
