Go To New Record

I would like to put a button on the main menu that opens a specific form, on a new (blank)record.

At the Beginner level (without programming or macros) all you can do is either (a) set the form's Data Entry property to True. This will put you at a blank new record, however the user can't go back thru the existing records. Or (b) make a button to open the form and then click on the Add New button.

Once you learn a little programming, you can definitely do this with two lines of code in a button:

DoCmd.OpenForm "FormNameF"
DoCmd.GoToRecord ,, acNewRec

Watch my Intro to VBA video, and then give that a try. Programming is easy, and once you learn a little VBA, your can really make your databases do some cool stuff.

Thank you for the advise. I think option "a" can work for me at this time. I can create a 2nd form for only New entries that will open from the main menu.

I will have more questions soon.
Thank you.
