ID key field
Gary

I was recently asked to revamp a database that was uglier than a spam sandwich on a hot summer day, and after a lot of work i am totally satisfied with the results with the exception to 1 problem.

The problem is, the original database uses SSN as the Key for the table. I am trying to figure out a way to create a custom key field that would keep my records alphabetically sequential. This is so when the record selectors at the bottom of the form are used the user can move back or forward 1 record alphabetically not by the key field.

Ex Sue, Susan & Fred
Sue ID = 6 & Susan ID = 0 Fred ID = 4
Fred would end up in the middle

This is not a critical thing but makes things for the user a littler simpler

Reply from Richard Rost:

Why not just use a query sorted by user name as the data source for your form?
