Query Not Showing Check Box

Hi all,

My tables are on an SQL Server, and I have added some new fields - using the correct syntax, and these have pulled through correctly to the table.

However when I use this information to run a query, it doesn't show as a checkbox, but instead a 0.

When adding criteria of False it displays no results (although all should still show)

I have looked at the display properties and changed these to Checkbox for this field. It then displays the checkbox, but the criteria still does not work.

I have added screen grabs of the Query, Table, Table Properties from the Server of the new field and the one which is currently working.

Can anyone please lend assistance?

Was it created in Access first then uploaded to SQL Server or created on SQL Server first and just pulled down into Access?

Data Type Yes/No Usage Boolean (true/false) data; Access stores the numeric value zero (0) for false, and -1 for true. Size 1 byte. Data types for Access desktop databases https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/data-types-for-access-desktop-databases-df2b83ba-cef6-436d-b679-3418f622e482

Hi Alex,

Thank you for the information. The table was created in Access, then uploaded to the SQL Server. I then added additional fields (Columns) to the table via SQL as obviously I cannot do this in Access now they are pulled from the server.

Data Type is - bit - as SQL doesn't recognise Yes/No.

Usage is 0 (false) and 1 (True) - as again this is different on SQL

Size, I think it's 1 byte I'm not sure. But as you can see all the property information is the same for those created on access and uploaded to SQL as it is for those created on SQL.

Do you see my issue?

A yes/no field in Access becomes a BIT field (not byte) in SQL Server with a value of 1 or 0 (as opposed to -1 or 0 for Access).

So, Mark, your concern is just how the data appears in the query? You should be able to right-click on the query in Access and set the Display Control property accordingly... but why does it matter? Are you not using a form to display the value? Assign whatever control you want to the field there.
