First I would like to begin with I know nothing about coding so I am learning as I go.

Right now I have a table with 20+ fields, a form, a query and a report. None have been built with wizards. My form has unbound textboxes that I have named relating to each field in the table. I want to type in those textboxes and then search the table through the query.

In the query I have Fields listed and Table listed. In the criteria portion of the query I have the following:

Like "*" & [Forms]![Search Form]![Last Name] & "*"

Also on the form I have a control button to run the query:

DoCmd.OpenQuery "Query", acViewNormal

When I click the control button it does run the query but it doesn't list any results. So I know it is not the button that is not connected to the query.

Once I get my results I do want the report to list those that met my search parameters. But right now that is not an issuee because I can't even get search results.

Is there a more effective way of performing this search feature?

I have seen some things on the Tag property but I have no idea how it works or how to use it.

It looks to me like you have set this up correctly. Try following the steps in this tutorial and let me know what happens.
