Form VBA code who is logged in
Paula

Richard, I have a new application on a server, and 20 people will be able to access it. Is there a Form and VBA Code in one of your lessons that will let me know who (which computers) have the database open?  Also, I am looking for code that will close the app.

Reply from Richard Rost:

You could use the techniques in my Security Seminar to keep a list of logged on users in a table. Add them to the table when they log in; remove them when they log out. I believe the old Access 2000 User Level Security has a way to generate a list of logged in users, but I try to avoid using that since it's no longer supported. As far as closing the app remotely, you would just need to make a Timer event in one of your forms (probably your main menu) that looks for a SHUTDOWN command from you. You could even create a field in your user logon table (a y/n field) called ForceShutdown. Have your form timer look at this field every 30 seconds or so, and if you set it to true, it closes the database.
