Alternating Color Rows Report
Steven Gonser

I've developed a report that has many rows of data. For ease of viewing, I was hoping to alternate the background color for every other row (which I thought was the deafult). I see the option under the 'Text Formatting' section, but it is grayed out (not available). Hoping there is a simple answer

You need to select the Detail section not the fields to set the Alternate Row Color.

Yeah. Still no luck. Selected 'Detail' row, opened Properties, set Back color to Background 1, set Alternate Back Color to Background 2 Darker 10% and get the exact same result

It looks like your text boxes are taking up almost all the space anyways, so maybe you're not seeing it? The background properties only affect dead space. If you drag the page footer down to make some dead space in the detail section does it alternate colors then?

I've tried that as well... increased the amount of vertical space  under each row of data. Still the same result. I've also insured that each text box in the Detail row is set to a transparent fill, so presumably the background and alternate background settings would simply show through, correct? Thanks for all the help... I might just have to take a loss on this one.

Use Background 1 and Background 1, 10% darker. Not Background 2.
