Hi Y'all
Question: Can Access print a PDF and Encrypt the document prior to sending out to outlook? lets say we have a field with some information and we pass the string to it as a PW. Can this be done? maybe this will be a cool Thec-Help video. I am trying to add this to the invoicing program that Richard showed us. As individual invoices get printed and sent to customer the PDF will be secure and only the receiver can view it...

I don't think it's possible without a third party program. Googling it gave me all No, there was one solution listed as being VBA but it was paid and licensed and in German so I couldn't make out anything. It was probably some kind of 3rd party situation as well. A few of them did suggest using VBA to run the command line and zipping the pdf with a password then sending that if that's feasable?

Interesting I also googled it and got 3rd party programs. Lets see what other have to say as you know there is many ways to get it done... this is a good challenge.

Does 7zip have a cli? Could try that. `7z a secure.7z * -pSECRET`

`Compress-Archive -Path Files -DestinationPath C:\Users\[User]\Desktop\Files` No way to set a password

For a newly created PDF:
It can't be done from Access
However, it can be done from Word.

Before saving a Word doc as a PDF, click Options.
Then select 'Encrypt this document with a password'
Enter a password between 6 and 32 characters.
Job done!

This method does provide an indirect way of protecting existing PDFs
Open the PDF in Word .
Now Save As ... and enter a new file name.
Add a password as before.

Jaun I used the Tech Help template that Rick uses and if you click on customer form then click on Orders then click on Invoice this will show you the invoice on the right side, if you look on the right side of the ribbons you should see PDF or XPS this will let you save the invoice as a PDF and you can email it as an attachment also. I don't know about the Encrypt.

I would use WinZip or WinRAR. Both can be used to create password-protected ZIP files at the command line. Perfect for sending an encrypted PDF.
