The databases i have built are for Not For Profit Organisations. So what i pick in any seminar are the principles of how to do something. Based on this, I will propose the following:
- Please use Access 2010. We will then get opportunity to learn it.
Include the following topics:
- How to eventually deploy the database created (using the package solution, Inno set up or Sage Key or any other installer). It is such a nightmare showing different users with different office versions how to open the database. In addition, how to update/upgrade the deployed database
- How to copy selected tables of the backend database and ZIP them and send by outlook or another email program to say a manager or coordinator. You could use late or early binding
- Export data to Excel
- Create graphs either within Access or Excel
- How to link to Excel data and do data analysis in Access
- How to Back up a database
- How to Compact a database
- How to delete a specific record from the database using VBA
- Lastly if there are multiple branches of an office, how the coordinator can merge data from the different managers/offices and also analyse the data as independent offices within the same database.
My requests look many. Probably you can pick out what you think is possible in the time band that you have.
