Date Stamp

Hi, me again! I'm sure this will be covered somewhere but having looked through the expert courses list and searched tech help, i've come up blank. Anyone know which videos cover the following?

Wanting to learn how to
1. Date stamp individual controls on a form (Tried using a Macro to record to a separate table but tdidn't work and got a bit too much)

2. Table containing transaction list for all edits within the database so i can legally beat in the office with a long stick (!)

I know i saw number 2 somewhere in the courses list previously but cant find it now.

On a positive note, just done my first simple string concatenation without looking it up so the education is going really well! As always, many many thanks

1. Not really sure what you mean by 'Data Stamp Individual Controls'. Can you elaborate on this please?

2. I think you may be looking for Track Changes

1. My bad. Say you have a text field on a form. then put a text field next to it which shows when it was last modified and by whom.

2. Awesome, thanks

I think you're thinking of the "Append Only" setting in Long Text fields. I don't generally recommend that. If you want to track a history, set up a related table, like I show in Contacts.

I was thinking about doing both but i believe you are right. I'm going to watch the Tracking Changes video and go from there, thanks.

P.S. I'm sure i know how to do it but for the days when my brain is on strike (most days), could you add a line on the forum rules page showing how to add links here so I can add video links for other people like you guys do? Isn't it Href or something? Thanks

Hi Dan. Right now only Moderators and Admins can add links. You can copy and paste the text of a link, but it won't hyperlink.
