Low RAM Concern

Hello Richard and friends,
Just on the same issue of response time delay, I think that the problem might be the low RAM capacity. For example, I use a laptop (MacBook Pro) 16G RAM and my online database is somehow slow. However, my end users (3 persons) face a more slow pace (they have 8G RAM on their PCs). Do you think that an upgrade of our hardware, let's say at 32 G RAM, might speed up our database? That is to avoid installing the database on a local server, and then try to sync with the SQL online server? I'm rather facing hard times with my colleagues' compliance in using the database and organize the office. Thank you very much in advance.

This is a question for Alex, as I personally think Macs are atrocious, but 8 GB of RAM should be plenty just to run your OS and Access.

Yea a lot of the user machines run on 8GB in my environment. I haven't had any problems. What's your upload/download speed?

Yeah, but 8 GB on a PC is a lot different than 8 GB on a Mac. I'm not saying Macs are resource hogs... but...

Where is what?
You mention your database is online, is this just the table on an MS SQL server?
Are you pulling all the data over the wire or building Views/Stored Procedures?
What is your internet speed compare to colleagues?
Does Activity Monitor show any issues?

Hello to all,
I have organized the database following the valuable directions of Richard Rost, and the whole accde database file is as large as 77mbs. It is uploaded (the tables) on Winhost. The orderF conveys a lot of routines. The upload/download speed is 150-200 mbps. I also use pathtrough queries for the lists, which are very fast, but the CustomerWcontact form, as well as the OrderF (through which we ender data and make the routines which update almost all the rest tables) are quite slow. Actually, I don't have a full picture of how to build views/stored procedures. Do you mean the sync procedure? Do you think that uploading my frond end Database on Access Cloud will resolve the problem? Yet I would need some instructions on how to connect the frond end database with my SQL online database (tables), for which I have invest a lot of time and effort. Thank you very much in advance.

When it comes to a form with a subform, like customers with contacts, you may want to limit the results to, say, the past 30 days. This way you're pulling down less data. Then perhaps have a button where you can change the recordsource to ALL dates, 90 days, or whatever. The whole key with working online is to only pull down the records you NEED.

Hello, how could I do this, that is how could I limit the data on my orderT and OrderdetailT Tables? Thank you very much again.

You can do it in your query criteria

Query Criteria just do Between Date()-30 and Date()
