ID number issue

I am guessing I changed something that is causing this but I can't figure it out. I have a continuous sub form that has a combo box to pick a part number from another table. What started happing is that the new line does not create the next ID that should be next in the table. It keeps trying to use an ID that is already in the table which then gives me a pop up error.

any ideas on what I should look at?

Does a new record show as (new) in the ID column Are you setting the Foreign Key correctly?

yes it shows new prior to adding a new record. I have checked the Keys several times to make sure they are correct.

Is it via the Link Master Child? What is the error?

yes it is Alex. So I can compact and repair on the backend of this system and now it is working again. I had done that once already but for whatever reason it didn't fix it the first time.
