Access Expert 8 Lesson 6

I picked up on an minor issue in lesson 6 Order Form the "IsTaxable" checkbox. When the IsTaxable box is set to True, it automatically sets the "Istaxable" in the sub form to true. However when it is reversed and set to "False" the new record does not refresh and uncheck, so when selecting a new product tax is added.(as happened in the demo...I had to slow it right down to check,)
I fixed my copy of the database "IsTaxable" checkbox to "Refresh" on Lost Focus and that fixed the issue.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned that in the 9 years since that class was released. :)

The issue here is that when you check the box in the parent form, the subform has ALREADY set its value because of the default value setting. That won't be updated until you add ANOTHER record. You can easily fix this, as you've mentioned, with one line of VBA code. You can put:

OrderDetailF.Requery

In the AfterUpdate event for the IsTaxable box on the parent form and that will take care of it too. However, at this stage, in the Expert series, I was trying to avoid macros or VBA programming... a decision I made 20 years ago which I'm thinking of changing next time I re-record the Expert series. I think I'm going to start inserting little one-liners of code even as early as Expert 1 just to get people used to it.

Intro to VBA is all you need to get the gist. :)

I just have an Eagle eye sometime... I worked for a short while proofing software and test cases.
Cannot say the same with my own work though...I often find my mistakes months after I made them.
Understand leaving the Macro's out for later classes, the can become confusing at times. I am having an issue at the moment and trying to figure it out myself, that way I learn and it sinks in.
Thank you for your dedication and replies to my posts.
