Window Resize in Design View
Patrick McCabe

Hi,
I have another dumb question.

When I right click an item on the navigation pane and select design view it opens a window that fits the entire view of my form plus some room to work with (see image 1).

However, when I double click on the item-or open in form view- then right click on the actual form and select design view, the view changes to show the rulers, etc, but the window does not resize. It tries to fit everything inside the same size window. I have to manually resize the window (see image 2).

I know this sounds like a small issue, but I work on a laptop with no mouse so resizing the window whenever I switch to design view with a very imprecise cursor gets annoy quickly!

For reference, I did watch the "Auto Resize" Tech Help video and tried this to see if it would change anything. The only thing that does is increase the size of Form View to the size the window was in Design view so there is a bunch of empty space. (See image 3)

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks,
Pat

Patrick make sure you are resizing the form (your blue box) not the design window.

See the image below.  The red circles are the form edge.  The blue circles are the edge of the design window.

Patrick,
Make sure Auto Resize is set to Yes. (Form properties under the Format tab)

Touch pads suck!  Buy  yourself an early Christmas present and spent $19.99 at Staples for a USB mouse.
