Form Open to New Record
Teri Bridges

4 years ago
I have a contact form that can be used to make new entries or edit existing entries.
I would like the form to open to a new record. Currently it opens to my first contact. Also I do have a contact search button.

Any suggestions?

The OpenForm method has an optional DataMode parameter.

DoCmd.OpenForm "ContactF", , , , acFormAdd

Kevin, I am not sure I understand. I tried this
Private Sub Form_Load()
  DoCmd.OpenForm "frmContactDetails", , , , acFormAdd
End Sub

You would want that in the click event of your "add new button".

I currently have this

Private Sub cboGoToContact_Exit(Cancel As Integer)
Me.cboGoToContact = Null
End Sub
Private Sub Form_Load()
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
End Sub

Scott my add new button works correctly and my go to button works correctly.

What I would like is, when I open the form it default to new record entry and not the first contact in my list. folks are accidently typing over that first entry. So I would like it to open to a new record.

What code is currently behind your button that opens the Contact form?
VBA or Embedded Macro?
