Access stability
Jesse

I am a chest-beater, knuckle-dragger, using software that the heart of which is Access.  Intermittently, the log completely deletes or reverses the sequence of entries in an auto-number field and subsequently the data that follows. Is it that Access is instable, or is their a remedy I should attempt?

Answer from Richard Rost:

Some versions of Access have been unstable in the past. Access 95 was horrible. Access 2002 had a lot of bugs until they released the first service pack. However, overall it has been a very reliable platform. I have been running my business on an Access 2000 database (the most stable version yet) for the past 10 years.

However, Access is only as good as the programmer. I would be more apt to look for a CODING problem than a problem with Access itself. Talk to your developer.
