Tracking Attendance

I was going to create something similar for my mum who works in a School but they have a new system called SIMS that monitors all of this now, I was going to see if I could link that database to Access and produce Reports etc from the data collected but haven't had a chance yet and will probably need some sort of add-on/driver etc to join the two.

The options they have include
Each Lesson is tracked by the given teacher.
There are 2 Sessions.
Session 1 is Registration, Lesson(s) 1, 2 & 3
Session 2 is Lesson(s) 4 & 5
If you are marked for Registration you get the Session 1 mark,
If you are marked for Lesson 4 you get the Session 2 mark, whether or not you attend all other lessons (odd I know!)

There is a list of options to mark the students (given by the Government) which include: v visit, o offsite, m medical, i illness, u unauthorised, n no reason given yet, e excluded, z inset day ...

From this information you can now track Students for any given lesson, teacher, term, day of week, month ...
...

For Employees. (Link to Pay)
``````````````
Use timesheets to show what hours they are requested to work, confirm at the end of week
Length of time worked during day determines breaks allowed
4hrs - none
6hrs - 30mins
9hrs - 1hr30mins ...
Calculate Holidays through proportion of hours worked
Add bank holidays (8 a year?)
Given set amount for year, calculated from an average hours worked then offset against actual taken with actual hours worked.
Length of Service allows more days/weeks off
Christmas Bonus - calculated by hrs worked per week and length of service...
Sick Days != Sick Pay, first three days (stops odd days off)
Compassionate leave, couple of days?
Mark Employee as on Long Term Sick (LTS)
Overtime, Sunday Duty Manager Payments, Added Responsibility - Extra pay
Just a few thoughts,
Hope this is useful,
Alex
Reply from Richard Rost:
Good ideas, Alex. I'll be sure to add some of them. Anyone have any others?
