Select Two Criteria

I have a database of birds seen and each time I see that bird, the date and place where it is seen is recorded.

I have a query which selects all the new birds that I have seen for each year. If it is a new bird say for 2022, I enter "New" in the notes field. However, I have just found that if I had entered "new"for a bird seen last year but then I see that bird again in this year, then the New in the notes field from 2021 assumes it is still a new bird for the 2022. So how can I tell the query to select a bird that is New but that it has to also be only new for the current year. I have attached a copy of the query. Thank you

I would store the year the bird was first seen in the bird table instead of using the Notes field. See screenshot as an example.

Thank you Kevin. That works really well.
