Share a Database With Myself

What is the Best / Safest Way (Avoid Corruption) to Set Up and Use my Database between my Desktop and Laptop?

A while back, I read posts and watched a video where Rick says NOT to use OneDrive with your database and store / use it on your computer.

But then I have found a few videos with titles like:
- Share your database Online, on the Web, in the Cloud

So I am bit confused. What am missing or not understanding?

If your desktop and your laptop are in the same physical location, then you just have to set up a LAN (local area network) between them. Set up a shared folder on one (probably your desktop) and then map network drive to it from the other one. I honestly haven't shown how to do this in any of my lessons because I just assume everyone has a network already set up. Perhaps I'll do a video on it.
