Is Compact and Repair Needed
Margaret Simcoe

Our in-house access database sometimes becomes unstable and I need to kick everyone out so I can compact and repair the database. Is there some way to do that with Access SQL Server Online? Is it necessary?

In a nutshell, no, you should never have to compact/repair an SQL Server database. It's pretty self-maintaining. If a compact/repair is fixing things for you, I suspect maybe your front-end file is somehow getting corrupted. Is everyone sharing the same file, or do you have it properly split and everyone has their own front-end ACCDB file?

Thanks so much for your reply. I have it properly split. I inherited a large complex database some 10 years ago and I'm hoping to simplify the system as I convert it and get rid of anything that might be corrupting things.
