I wrote a databse and split it, and put it on our LAN. 6 users enter records, the other 50 users only require read access. When a user without rights opens it, it opens in exclusive mode and then NO ONE can get in. (Can't write the LDB file). My IT manager doesn't want to give rights to the other users. (very sensitive data). Any workarounds for this? We're going the SQL route tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for any help.

That shouldn't happen. You've got something wrong with your permissions. By default, a database should open in SHARED mode unless you EXPLICITLY tell it to open in exclusive mode. I'd have to see what you've got going on there to tell you exactly what's wrong, but if you go to File > Open, pick your database, and make sure OPEN EXCLUSIVE is NOT selected.
