Got a definition for the 'stock cutting problem'?

Hi Alex,
Yes material optimization  when cutting it.
You have a stock of material, let say in length 3 M, 6 M and 12 M.
Then you have an order of different length:
4 pcs. 1 M long
3 pcs. 1.2 M long
10 pcs. 0,7 M long
Which stock do you use to have the least amount of waste when cutting the pieces.

I have the vba in an excel spread sheet that a brugt. But would love to have it for my ms access db.

Adam or Scott I vaguely remember something similar and a website that does a similar job

This guy (See below) did it in excel, and the code is free. I would love to have it directly in my DB and without any reference to external programs.
Are there any way to translate Excel VBA code to an Access VBA code?

The program I use in my shop for sheet goods is CutList Optimizer

There are several out there if you just Google "Cutlist".  I've not seen a solution done for Access but like I said in the other post - why reinvent the wheel if you don't need to?  I have no desire to even try and tackle the complexity of doing that kind of thing for Access but I have no doubt it could be done if you had the time an programming knowledge.

Regarding VBA - it's pretty 'transferable' with the exception of some formula and cell references.
