System Design and Analysis

Its been a long time since I used TRSDOS And Basic.

I need to decide what I can do with working with data.
I am deciding on my choices for a Master Menu.

Thus far,  I have made my choices in the menu as.
1. Create new Record.
2. Search and display a record.
3. Choose a record for editing.
4. Delete a record.
5. Backup Database Records.
6. Defragment Database files (compact and repair file).
7. Print Reports.
8. Sort Records.

Looking for suggestions as to what else I need to provide the user.  Not all menu choices are written.

Ultimately the program will be standalone program and compiled in Microsoft runtime.  It will have registration with a code to use the software. This will be consumer software.  It is not business oriented.  It is meant to track and manipulate data.

Any suggestions concerning books that will assist me in Designing the software would be appreciated.  Please provide me titles and authors.  Need to get them from Amazon.

The bottom line is I did this back in the early 80's.  The field was glutted with Programmers and I went into teaching and eventually worked for Uncle Sam.  Taking formal classes is out of the question.  Cost is prohibitive.  I Thank You!!! now for any advice etc.

Hard to suggest what your user would need. You would need to do your own User Research to find out.
Possibilities are endless, just your imagination, Googling skills and hard work.
Make a list of requirements
