Hi, I'm trying to have a function compare todays date() against a variable dateE, and return one of them so I can use it in query or an insert script.. when dateE is read at the original sub its what I would expect.. but when I read it at the function it is todays date. and then of coarse the function only outputs todays date.

Public Function IssueDate(dateE As Date)

MsgBox dateE 'this does not output the same date as the
             'variable I sent from the sub.

If Date > dateE Then
   IssueDate = dateE
   Exit Function
  
   Else
   IssueDate = Date
End If
