I am getting the message below when I copy and paste a database from my folder to a thumb drive. I get it to my laptop and open it and then I try to add a new record and this
comes up:
"You cant open specified record"

I would not try running an Access database from a USB thumb drive. Copy it to your PC first.

How do I get a database on to my laptop??

If the database is on your thumb drive just copy and paste to a Trusted Location on your laptop.

You may have misunderstood what I am trying to do. I copied my database to a thumb drive and transfer the thumdrive database to my laptop. I am not running the database from the thumb drive I just used the thumb drive to move the database from my tower to my laptop, and I am coming up with that error message. I did tat but come up with that message when I add a record.

Is it a single file database? It's not split and looking for a backend file, is it? For weird stuff like this, I recommend: Troubleshooter
