Add table to backend

I have a split database with the front end on one computer and the back-end on my server folder known as Y:\Backend:.  I now have two tables on the front end. How do I move those to that same Backend so they are all located there?

When you make table changes like adding/removing tables, make them on the back end file instead. Then you just need to link the front end to them. I would just copy/paste the ones you have right now on your front end into the back end, and then delete them from the front end and link them after.

First BACKUP everything.

Kick everyone out and open you back end in exclusive mode.  Either import the tables or just open the front end where the 2 tables are and copy / paste them into the BE.
Delete the tables out of the FE.  Then using the, link manager, import them into you FE being sure to LINK the tables.

Now that you have split the db any BE changes you make should show up.  Any new tables will have to be imported to the FE.

I am sorry that I am so dense on this. I now have the file named CarrierT on my screen in my BE file.  I wish to link it to the file in the main database program on my presnt computer. I right clicked on the table CarrierT which brought down the drop down list. I then clicked on the Linked Table Manager. Now what?

Hi Harold,

You have CarrierT on your Backend and you need it to show on your frontend? (Main Database Program)

Go to your frontend
On the ribbon, go to EXTERNAL DATA > LINKED TABLE MANAGER
Click Add, Give it Name and Select Access
Browse to your backend file. Leave the password blank unless you have encrypted the backend file
Choose CarrierT and click ok
Close the Linked Table Manager. It'll now appear in your frontend

I noticed you have your backend at Y:\Backend. Where I've put the filename in picture 3, you can put Y:\Backend\backendfile.accdb BUT i prefer to specify the computer name because it then isn't relying on your network map, it'll instead go out and actually look for the server. Six and two threes - both methods work but using Y:\Backend means it'll stop working if your Network Map is ever broken.
I.E. \\MyServerName\Backend\backendfile.accde
