cannot add or change a record

getting error "cannot add or change record because a related record does not exist in MasterquoteworksheetT"

I have a form based on the table above, a SF based on Q of the detail table. Have made changes to try and fix but not seeing it. Only thing i can think of is the way i did formulas in query. Feel like this is basic and i should know but Im obviously missing something. Thanks in advance!

Why do you have quoteID and quoteDetailID in both tables? Should just be QuoteID in the main table and then you can link details to that quoteID in the details table, unless I'm missing something. What are the child link field settings of the subform? Do you have a default value to put the quoteID in on the subform before you try to add something to it?

Adam, i didnt at first but added detailid to quote table bc i couldnt figure out what i was missing. let me post pic of child link field settings. i think linked by quoteid

quoteID and quotedetailID are autonumbers

Do you have a default value for the subform for quoteID to take whatever is on the main forms quote ID? Like =Forms!MasterQuoteF!QuoteID
