If and End IF
Maarten Brusselers

When I run the delete query from the SQL seminar I get an error message.  If I delete the "end if" it runs without problem  I don't understand this. I thought you always need an "end if" when you use "if".  Richard's video also included an end if.

You don't need an End If if the statement is all on one line.
Consider the 2 If statements below:

If X = 5 Then Y = 7

If X = 5 Then
   Y = 7
End If

Thanks Kevin.  That was not mentioned in the seminar.

Hi Maarten, the SQL seminar does recommend the Developer 1 class that covers VBA basics like If Then Else.

Thanks, Kevins LOL.

Yes, Maarten, you really should have a solid understanding of VBA basics before this seminar. This is from the SQL Server Part 1 page:

"This is a Developer-Level Seminar. There will be some VBA coding. It is strongly recommended that you have completed my entire Access Beginner and Expert series. My Developer 1 class is highly recommended so you understand the basics of programming in VBA. If not, at least watch my free Intro to VBA video."

I see you're still in the Expert courses. So I'd recommend you at least watch these before continuing:

I'll get to the Advanced/Developer series soon.
