recordlocking info issue

Potentially stupid question. I might have messed up a part of my database. I tried to add a column in the backend, then add a column to a search page. Somewhere along the line, it made the backend think it was opened up on my device even after several shutdowns and restarts.

Also, the part of the database in question, when I load up that page it says "the Depression onload you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events". It has the same prompt for on current. Basically that temporary change has caused all of the events in that page not to work.

This all has taught me a valuable lesson to back up before/after any change no matter how minor it may be. I didn't think a column in the back end and adding it to a search page would cause the entire search page not to work. Admittedly rookie mistake. Thank goodness these issues do not impact the front end for my other two co-workers.

ANYWAY - all those problems aside, how do I get my access backend to unlock so I can compact, back up, and get those new additions out of the database?

Expression* - I wish there was a way to edit posts for typos. The problem worked itself out. I also took out all the VBA, saved it then paste it all back in and it all seems to be working again now that I have the column removed.

Typos - Been there done that.  It's a security thing.

Re working itself out:  Now that you have had a little scare I'm sure you realize the value of backups.
Even if you're gonna just make one small change,  you never know.
I'm just in the habit of copying and pasting into my development directory then when I'm sure everything is tested and good, copy to the live directory.
Never work directly on your production db.  (Ask me how I know someday)
If you haven't already make sure your db is split.

To make backing up easier Backup Access  also look into the Access Updater

I absolutely should do a development directory. That I have not done, but that's a really good idea! With everything over the network I always just assume things wouldn't work as intended if paths are different. Obviously, with how I have everything set up, this isn't an issue - just a bad habit. I will just take your word for it and start using my "backup" directory as a production directory as well.

I actually have split up my database. I actually have two backends - one for my main production database and one for user credentials, permissions, and activity log.

I am still trying to convince my agency to purchase for those higher-end developer-level classes. I'm hoping they will see everything I've been able to do just with me going out of my own time and money to learn silver membership materials that they will feel compelled to support further endeavors as a budding access developer.
