On your suggestion, I put in the Code:
Me.JobID = DMax("JobID", "731DailyReportT", "JobDate = #" & Date() & "#") + 1

Where JobID is the field name on my form and TheDateFieldNameInTable is JobDate.

The code editor takes out the parentheses after Date making the code:
Me.JobID = DMax("JobID", "731DailyReportT", "JobDate = #" & Date & "#") + 1

With that I get the same Access can't find the field 'Date'.......

After Alex's suggestion, I found that I had a reference in my JobID Control Source with an "!" That was causing the Run-Time '2447' error. That was one of my previous desperate attempts. I changed it back to the matching TableID (JobID) name as all the other form objects are. That did not bring any errors but returned the number 35. So, it did not take todays date into consideration and just gave me the next number in the field. Thank you sir, I really appreciate the time you have taken to help me.
