Field cannot be updated

At the point of Expert 9 Lesson 3, after I change the database to read the default tax rate from the main menu (I'm only 99% sure this is when it started), if I try to add a new line to an order I get the error message:

"Field cannot be updated"

Although strangely, it appears I actually can, as despite the error message, all records I add to the OrderDetail form do apparently get recorded.

Access 2016 on Windows 10 btw.

I just tried and I can't seem to reproduce this problem period is anyone else experiencing this? Does this work in my database that you can download from the website or is it just in your database?

It's definitely not a problem with the database, I downloaded a fresh copy at Access Expert 10 and it doesn't happen with that. 100% it's something silly I have done, but cannot for the life of me figure out what, and wondered if anyone else had come across this weird, ghost like issue. I've compared all relevant forms and tables between my copy and your copy and they're exactly the same.

I've either made a mistake somewhere further back or have something accidentally set wrong in a setting or field property somewhere.

Yeah, probably a property you changed or something. I hate issues like this. Easiest to start from the last known good copy that works and then go forward from there adding changes back to it until you find the one that breaks it.
