In D3 Richard showed that nowadays the form values can be used directly instead of using contagion which had to be used in the past.
When I tried to use contagion to see how it worked I ran into  problem with my date field and my notes fireld.  I tried to get he correct syntax by using " #SaleDate# " but that didn't work either.
I used:
DoCmd.RunSQL "INSERT INTO CommissionT (EmployeeID, CommissionRate, SaleDate, SaleAmount, Commission, Notes) " & _
    "Values (" & SalesRepCombo & "," & CommissionRate & " ," #SaleDate# "," & SaleAmount & "," & Commission & "," & Notes & ")"

This worked for all fields except for SaleDate and Notes.  Suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks Adam However, I still get "Syntax Error" DoCmd.RunSQL "INSERT INTO CommissionT (EmployeeID, CommissionRate, SaleDate, SaleAmount, Commission, Notes) " & _ "Values (" & SalesRepCombo & "," & CommissionRate & " ,#" SaleDate "#," & SaleAmount & "," & Commission & ",""" & Notes & """)"

You are missing a couple of ampersands - before and after SaleDate.

I tried: # ""SaleDate"" # didn't work # """SaleDate""" # didn't work "" # "SaleDate" # "" didn't work

Thanks Adam. Now it works, won't forget that one easily which is exactly the idea of learning something I mixed up & with " when looking at your last answer. Also, I thought that with a date an & was not needed.
