Multiple databases

I have a database that use a frond end file and a back end file. Back end file had a size on 20MB. I had to insert multiples pictures in the database so it grew up to be 250MB. Database is less responsive now. The back end is hosted on a server that I access through a VPN. Would I see an increase in speed and performance if I added a second back end file containing only the pictures to cut down on the size of the first db that contains most of my data.
I know that includind pictures in the db is not the best way to go and it is best to link the pictures to a shared drive but not far from now I will be migrating my back end file to sharepoint, so the pictures needs to be within the tables.

I don't use SharePoint but still I cant think of a reason to store your images in the database. As you saw, it bloats the db FASSST!
Best practice is to store you images in their own folder and link to them. For sure in Access but I don't know of a reason it would not work with SharePoint.
