Outlook and Gmail Concerns

Hello,

I was about to set up an Outlook account for the purpose of taking Access Expert 5, but I am concerned about the Gmail access I would be granting to Microsoft/Windows.

I see in the comments that Richard addressed SMTP coding for Robert Lund eight months ago in a message titled "Outlook Not Available".

I don't care about the authentication where Microsoft has to ask permission for whatever, I don't trust it and I do not want to grant Microsoft access to my Gmail. Is the SMTP coding available anywhere in Computer Learning Zone, and if so, can it be adapted easily for the lessons in Access Expert 5? I really want to keep moving along with my lessons and this could hold me up.

The SMTP code that I use in the Access Email Seminar does not require giving Microsoft any permissions. Do read the addendums on the Email Seminar Lessons page though.

Alex, The wording they use for accessing my Gmail just doesn't sit well with me. I don't use TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter...none of it. Thanks for the link!! Richard, Thanks for the addendums. Mike M

Yeah... I don't trust social media either. I still use it because everyone else does, but I don't rely on it for anything but cheap entertainment, and I would never trust it with any sensitive data.

Update - created a new Gmail account for Outlook for future Access business. I am still going to take the Email seminar, but for now a separate Gmail account for Outlook solved my privacy concerns regarding my personal Gmail account so I can keep going with the Expert lessons. I'll say it for you - DUH! Lol
