Multiple form records

I am experiencing what I believe to be a rather odd problem/situation.

I am what I'd call an intermediate user.  Not a beginner and certainly not an expert in any way.

I have a database of about 800 donors to a local charity. Some have donated once, some many times over the past 5 years. Donors are in one table and donations in a separate table.

Most times when I open the user form I will see that there are 800 or so  records. However, at times, like just now, it shows 1,506 records.  When I click thru the records, if a donor has donated once, he shows up once on the form.  But if he has donated 3 times for example, there will be 3 records shown in the form (not in the donor table), one after the other.

This seems to happen most after I have tweaked the form in some way... added or removed a field, moved a field  around etc.  I seldom (but occasionally) do anything with the VBA of the form.

Anyone able to point me to what is causing this.. and more importantly, how to correct it?

Tom unfortunately the question is to vague to be able to help much. Without knowing your table structure and the relationships between them, the source of your data, how you are bringing it into your forms, etc. it would all be a guessing game.
We'll need you to show us a bit more in order to help.

BTW - One thing that does come to mind - Are you using a Multi-Valued field anywhere in your tables? That is one symptom I've seen when those are used.

Well Scott, I'd have to say that I do NOT believe there are any multivalued fields in either the donor or donation tables. The source of the data is 99% keyed in, and the form itself gets its data from this SQL statement: SELECT JBDonorsT.*, Donations.DonationID. Not sure what else to tell you.. but ask and I will try.

Dan Jackson, there are just two tables linked together by the ContactID that appears in both tables/

Can you post a screenshot of your Query in Design View?

Kevin, I'd be happy to... but not sure what query you are specifically referring to. This is a DB that I have acquired... and it has many queries that I am still not sure what they are for.

@Kevin Robinson I got a bit distracted by other matters Kevin but am now back to it. I do not have any queries that are part of the design. But your comment got me looking at the Record Source of the form and I found it was - SELECT JBDonorsT.*, Donations.DonationID.

When I went in and made the Record Source just JBDonorsT I suddenly got just the records for the donors ONE time. The amount they have donated each of the five years of the organization are in a subform of the main form. I guess by bringing in both tables into the Record Source, that was what was creating the multiple copies of the donor table.

Thanks for pointing me in a direction, that allowed me to solve my own problem.
