How To Add A Quantity To Form
David Clement

I have built a database with a list of filters that a certain truck may require. I would like to know how to add a quantity on the form and or table for the filters. Some trucks require 2 oil filters for example.

This list will be for reference only, once entered, there will be no need to change the quatity. Richard has scolded me in the past for using identical field names.

My idea is to input the truck ID and see all the filters that truck requires, including quantities.

Not sure how to do it.
Thank you,
Dave

Normalization can be a tricky nut to crack sometimes.
I probably would split it into at least 2 tables. You could theoretically have more than one truck that is the same model.
Alternatively you could also acquire other equipment you want to track / other equipment that you need to know the parts for.  Forklift, skid loader,  crane, warp engine.  You wouldn't want a separate table for each piece of equipment.
Instead you would want to have 2 tables.  That way you aren't constantly changing your tables and forms.
You forgot Spark Plugs.  Make a change.   oops, now I need to track Brake Shoes. That's another change You get the idea.

EquipmentT
   EquipmentID   'Primary Key
      Model
      S/N
      PurchaseDate
      PCost
Other information unique to that piece of equipment

MaintPartsT
   MaintPartID 'AutoNumber - Primary Key
EquipmentID 'Foreign Key related to Equipment
   PartName
   PartNumber
   QuantityNeeded  'default to 1
Other information needed for Maintenance Parts

Hope that helps.

By the way,  want to know when you did that last filter change?  Tire rotation?
What's coming due?

More tables and forms.
