Access Link to Excel

When I try to link between access and excel through the external data, I get the following error.

Microsoft Office Access does not support linking to an Access Database or Excel Office Workbook saved in a format that is a later version then the current database format.

I am using MS Access 365 (Microsoft Access for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2208 Build 16.0.15601.20526) 32-bit ) as well as Excel 365 (Microsoft Excel for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2208 Build 16.0.15601.20526) 32-bit). Access is saved as mdb and excel is saved as .xlsx

Can this be fixed?

Go to File -- Save As Select Access Database (*.accdb) Click the Save As button.

What Kevin is saying is that it isn't the Office programme version that's the issue, but rather the format of the database file itself. By using File>Save As as he suggests, it'll create a brand new file using the latest format. Give it a try and let us know if you have any further issues
