Send Keys Help
Sean Sweeney

I know Send Keys isn't exactly the best solution - but I'm basically trying to make macros via send keys to make background investigations a little easier for my staff.

There is a page that uses more javascript, and I'm unsure how to "find" the link to click the specific link I'm looking for.

the specific link is: https://web6.seattle.gov/courts/ECFPortal/default.aspx

I'm trying to get to the "Defendant Search Screen.

What have you tried?
If you know the url why not go directly to it?

With it being a javascript window, I can't seem to find the direct link to "Defendant Search". I checked the source code but it doesn't have anchors and the class IDs for hints. Tabbing for send keys doesn't seem to work with that page.

I don't suppose anyone has any ideas about how I can get to the Defendant Search Screen?

Hi Sean, that page can be opened separately with the link below, which should make what you do a little easier:

https://web6.seattle.gov/courts/ECFPortal/PopUps/DefendantSearch.aspx

To find this hidden link, see picture below.  Right-click on a blank part of the page, click "This Frame," then "Open Frame in New Tab."

A "frame" is a very common HTML technique to show a webpage in framed window.

A hidden URL (or one is not shown to the public) is commonly known as a "backdoor."

That is awesome, thank you very much Kevin! Oddly enough on Chrome, I do not see that frame option. I can see Frame Source and reload frame. Beyond that, I'm not seeing where my browser would let me open the frame up. Are you using firefox or opera?

Yes, I use Firefox.  In Chrome, if you choose "View frame source", the address bar should show the hidden URL (see picture below).

Sometimes, the page of a hidden URL doesn't work properly when it's opened via backdoor.  But I tried searching defendant names and it seemed to work.
