The short answer is Yes - probably.  

Access can pretty much be instructed to do what you need it to do.
We are going to need more information and almost certainly screenshots, explaining what you are trying to accomplish.

There are many examples.  Head to the Access Indexpage and run a search (Ctrl-F) for DLookup
In fact, I recommend bookmarking that page. Any time you are looking for "How To" it is probably there.  The trick is learning what to search for.

It looks to me like you are indeed going to the new record.  
BUT, then you are immediately closing the form also.

I'm assuming you want the form to remain open to enter the next transaction.  So...
If that is the case, you would need to remove the DoCmd.Close.  You can just rem it out - single quote(  '  ) at the beginning of the line to test it out.
