SQ Problem Example

See, here's a problem with using single quotes. Even a MAJOR website like Amazon still doesn't get single quotes right in all their pages. This is how my fiance shows up under my account. We have this issue EVERY time we fly too... airlines don't accept the single quote in her name.

That is an incorrect HTML coding rather than the fault of the single quote.  It's rare to see "regular" characters being coded like that nowadays, but they used to be in the early days of HTML.  Nowadays, it's mostly done for characters in unicode languages, mostly Asian languages.  If you view the source of such a webpage, you will see all the characters turned into HTML codes like & # 1234;.  But on this Chinese wiki page ( https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Access ), even the source page is shown in the native Chinese characters, due to better language support in today's browsers.  In short, this error by Amazon should not happen at all in this day and age; it's embarrassing.

You notice that today's browsers don't even have the "change page encoding" option on the menu anymore.  It's still there, but hidden.  In the old days, the option was prominently on the menu because the user was expected to *manually* change the HTML encoding!  If the encoding was wrong, you would see a lot of funny characters or a lot of & # 1234, ...
