Send Email without Outlook

Hi.  I would like to send automated emails from an Access DB.  These need to go to external customers and our internal team members.  Our company does not use Exchange / Outlook.  We use Gmail.  I thought I found the answer then saw one post that said as of 2022 you can no longer send mail from Access VBA due to a change on the Google side.  Can someone tell if that's true before I go down the road of trying to do all of the code only to find it's not possible? Is there a tech video on how to do this?

Firstly, Outlook works with any email address.  I use it with my Gmail address with no problems (see picture below).  Secondly, Gmail did not take away the ability to send email with VBA.  What happened was that it added requirements to how you sign in to Gmail from Outlook, notably 2-factor authentication, to make it more secure.  Richard made a video on the subject when the news broke last year:   https://599cd.com/blog/display-article.asp?ID=2308 .  When that is set up, you can send email with VBA as usual.

Thanks for the clarification Kevin.
I'll try it and see how far I get.
Just to be clear, we don't have Outlook or Exchange so I can't use MS Outlook at all in this case

If you have an Office license, it most likely includes Outlook.  If you really don't have an Outlook license, you may use Thunderbird, a popular freeware email client from the makers of Firefox.  Thunderbird supports sending email with command line options (documentation here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments_-_Thunderbird ).  You can use the VBA Shell() command to generate such command lines.  I haven't tested this method, however.

There's VBA code in the Access Email Seminar that lets you send direct to any mail server (including Gmail) without needing an email client (like Outlook).
