Job Tracking
Bob Mandrell

I am working on creation of a job traveler to issue to the manufacturing floor in our business.  I have a JobsT table that contains the following fields:
JobNumber  autonumber  primary key
JobNumberAddField number
CustomerName  text
CustomerPO  text
CustomerRequestDate  Date/Time
OriginalPromiseDate  Date/Time
CurrentPromiseDate   Date/Time
PartNumber       Text
JobDescription   Memo
NumberOfParts    Number
JobCreationDate  Date/Time
EstimatedProgrammingTime  Number
EstimatedSetupTime        Number
EstimatedRunTime          Number
ExtimatedManHours         Number
ProgrammingTime           Number
SetupTime                 Number
RunTime                   Number
ManHours                  Number
ShippingDetails           Text
Notes                     Memo

I have several things I am trying to do here that are on the edge or past my knowledge at this time.
First, our job number format is @@@@@-@@.  Where we only use the characters after the dash if the job is a multiple process job that gets split up but is still on the same customer PO.  I am hoping to use the job number field and string cancatenation with the JobNumberAddField to produce the proper job number format in a query that relates to a job entry form.  Is this a good way to go about this?  Is there a better way?

Next, I time data to add as I enter time into an employee time form each day.  Can you identify how far I need to be in your classes to understand how to do this.  The time data would update my estimated time fields (I hope).

Now I have the last idea about how to get the -@@ jobs in a tabel.  I am planning to do this with a JobsExtT table that has all the same fields as the JobsT but only for the PO line or part that applies.  My jobs query will also draw from/add to this table (from the form).

Does this sound like a good plan?  Do you understand what my plan is?  Any advice would be helpful.
