Backup Batch File

Before discovering Richard's Backup Template, I created a backup protocol for my back end data file using a batch file and Windows Scheduler. It has been working fine for several years and for the time being I'm going to leave it in place.  However, there is one small but annoying thing that despite all attemps to fix has me stumped. (Extremely limited DOS knowledge).

After my batch file runs, it is leaving (minimized) an open command prompt window which must be closed manually. Various online "solutions" have not helped.

The batch file script is attached and a screenshot of the offending open DOS window. Hope someone has the answer.  Thanks!!

The cause is the "start" command.  Use "call" instead:

   call copy "C:\Users\...

Use "start" when you run an external program, and you have the option to have the DOS window close or stay open:

   rem DOS window will close:
   start notepad.exe

rem DOS window will wait for Notepad to close first:
   start /wait notepad.exe

The above doesn't work for all programs, however.

Use "call" to run another DOS command.

Thanks Kevin!!!  Works like a charm for my Access backups.  That's been driving me nuts for a while.  Will sleep better tonight.
