Simple If Then statement.

If CheckBoxName Then
   MsgBox "Checked"
Else
   MsgBox "Unchecked"
End If

Or you could do it in one line with the IIF Function.

MsgBox IIf(CheckBoxName, "Checked", "Unchecked")

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always found the Access CheckBox control to be lacking. It's small, colourless and I'm annoyed when an empty little square is displayed for as "FALSE" condition. I most often prefer continuous Forms that show a large, green check mark (I like a 20pt Wingdings chr(252). I have a TextBox bound to a field in the underlying table that contains either the number 252 or nothing. It's not perfect, but looks better.
