Runtime error 2455

Hi all
I've made a query combining three tables that I am then viewing in a continuous form. The query works properly and the continuous form displays the information (including primary keys) as intended. I have created two separate On Double Click events on the continuous form for 2 different fields. The double-click event uses the primary key of the tables tbl_Business and tbl_Person used in the query.

The double-click event for the Business table functions as expected and opens the Business page to the proper record. The double-click for the person table does two incorrect things. First, depending on the selected record I will receive a "Run-time error '2455' You entered an expression that has an invalid reference to the property Form/Report." Second, on another record it will display the proper Person form but the WRONG record.

The intended Person form uses a tab structure as Richard taught in his ABCD seminar. When I debug the '2455' error it immediately indicates the issues lies with the VBA where the  backcolor for the parent subform is contained. I should note that this is the only form throughout my entire database where I am receiving this error as I am able to successfully reference the Person form from numerous other forms in the database.

Screen captures to follow and I appreciate any assistance that can be offered.

Hi Steve, Maybe unrelated to your problem, but Since you have a TYPE field and identify each type, why don't make an Entity label/field and have RESIDENCE NAME as an Entity. That way both Business Name and Residence name is in the same field (ENTITY)?  John

Hi John

Thanks so much for your prompt response. I'm not sure that will assist. To expand, I have a Person Detail page with Address as one of the subforms and a Business Detail page with Address as one of the subforms (relying on tbl_Address, tbl_Business and tbl_Person). On each of the Address subforms I have a checkbox indicating whether the address us a Location of Interest and the continuous form displayed above is only showing the "checked" addresses. I'm simply unsure how to implement a combined Entity field and retain the desired functionality - I confess that may due to my skillset as opposed to the validity of your suggestion

Just to clarify from above it is my query (the data source for the continuous form) that relies on tbl_Address, tbl_Business and tbl_Person

The parent form may not be able to access that property of the subform on load because the subform doesn't exist yet.

Hi Richard

Fair point and thanks for your thoughts. I may need to approach this from a different angle. Much appreciated

If an event isn't working, I always try to do what I want to do with a button and go from there.

Long shot but I think I had the same problem.  I had to set focus on the subform 1st then let the se the tab color.  When I had the problem I set the tab before the subform was even open.  not sure if this is your case. but one to explore.
